In this tutorial, we will learn How to Create a Host Group in Symantec Endpoint Security Cloud Console. Host groups function as shared policy components within your Firewall policy framework, offering the flexibility to incorporate them into both Firewall policy rules and policy target rules.
We can use a host group to add one or more hosts to multiple different firewall rules across Firewall policies within a domain.
How to Create Host Groups in Symantec Endpoint Security Cloud Console
Step 1: Log in to your Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) Cloud Management Console.
Log in to your Symantec Endpoint Security Cloud Console using your credentials. Once logged in, you will be presented with the main dashboard.
Step 2: Go to POLICIES.
Once you are in the cloud console dashboard, click on POLICIES from the vertical menu bar located on the left side.
Step 3: Locate the Host Group under Policy Components.
Host Groups can be found under the Policy Components tab. Click on the Policy Components tab first and then Host Group.
Step 4: Create Host Group.
On the Host Group Tab, click on Create Host Group.
Step 5: Add Host under Host Group.
On the Create Host Group dialogue box, first, enter the Group Name and then click on the Add Host button.
Step 6: Select Address Type.
Click on the drop-down arrow under Address Type. Here we can add an IP Address, IP Range, DNS Domain, DNS Host, Local Subnet, MAC Address or Subnet. we can add all of these types in a single host also or whichever ever applicable.
Here we choose IP Address as an Address type and enter the IP address that we want to add.
You can click on Save if not the host you want to add to this Host Group. Here we click on Add Another to add multiple hosts.
Next, select the IP Range as an Address Type. Then enter the Start IP and End IP of the IP range that we want to add. Click on Save.
From this screen, we can review the Host details that we have added. Click Save.
Step 7: Verify the Host Groups in Symantec Endpoint Security
This screen shows a list of Host Groups that are created.
